Mosaic collection
Jul. 20th, 2009 10:02 amPassed heaps of people out and about. Lots of cheerful 'mornings' and happy smiles. Feels good!
Need to take my camera and stop relying on my cellphone for pics. Bu at this point I am just pleased I am remembering to take my key!
I like this one. Even has a tail! QUAC K! Wonder if it is modelled on a west auckland duck - because as mentioned - they have suicidal tendancies.

Walk - cos I can
Jul. 18th, 2009 08:14 pmWent for a walk this morning. This is the first time I have done anything in ages. Is my 'I'm tired of being sick and going to do something about it' thing. I didn't last long but glad I did something.
Was freezing cold but not raining - very surprising. Was so windy that gusts kept blowing my headphones out of my ears. Gave up on the music after a bit. Sunk into my thoughts instead.
Took a turn (huh love that phrase) through my favourite park. After my recent 'learning' from the council website I had fresh eyes when wandering through. Although only my cellphone to record this momentous moment.

Bridge Hunt
Jul. 18th, 2009 03:55 pmFor some strange reason I was cruising on the local councils website and found a list of bridges that have been built recently - and they are quite nice. Decided to visit a couple....
Warning - will be addictive and waste alot of time.
Pressie for the new niece/nephew due in September.
Was in two separate packages but first thing my mature, grown up, big brother did was dress it up.
Funny thing is it is propped up on the tv remote - they kept on moving the penguin, changing the channel (we were watching v8s racing) then re-propping the penguin up... hehe - I think they may like it.
Had considered a scarf but couldn't figure out how to put it around its neck so it was over the flippers, under the beak - better without I think.
After was seems like hours, over several days, fires going out and wasting I don't know how long, I thought I had it.
I had studied the front of the fireplace looking for clues, nothing......
Today I noticed a little sticker that has the diagram - ooops
Wondering.... if you had two bottles of, say mayonaise, a full one and one nearly finished. Which one would you put in the front?
You always get funny things in a new house. Like... They keep there plates and cups in the pantry but you can't have the pantry door open and the dishwashing. So you unload onto the bench, close the dishwasher, open the pantry and put stuff away. I find that strange.
Beauty and the Beast
Jun. 5th, 2009 05:47 pmI don't remember that much singing - did I blank it or has it always been there?
Why does the beast not have to say 'I love you' but the spell is broken when Bell says it. Is that the loving the beast thing - or is it closer to real life - he learns to love, she expresses that love.
Why am I reading things into a cartoon??
Why is there no Mr Potts? But there is the son, Chip? Is this a PC thing - single motherhood? Not even going into the age thing.
Where did all the dresses come from? Handy drapes?
City Scramble
Jun. 3rd, 2009 02:48 pmThis is the event I went to on Sunday..
Here's the blurb...
Sunday 31 May 2009. Britomart.
City Scramble takes the hugely popular sport of Off Road Enduro riding to a unique urban setting in downtown Auckland. Bringing a sport which previously distanced the spectator by remote rural locations, to an intense crowd packed inner city arena.
This event is the brainchild of our sponsored Endoro rider Chris Birch.
The course will feature elements that have never been seen before anywhere, plus all the obstacles that make Endurocross such an intense sport such as logs, rocks and water. City Scramble will be tight aggressive racing that will let the best Enduro riders in New Zealand and the rest of the world show off their skills.
Red Bull City Scramble will invite stars of the international Enduro circuit to line up against our best national riders. Unlike traditional long Enduro events, racing on the day will be in Supercross format with heats, semi's and a grand final.
City Scramble is a unique and innovative event that will bring Auckland City alive.
Spectactor entry is free, just rock on up.

I heard about the event from my friend John who is a mate of Chris. Chris is someone I have done a housesit for. While he was in Romania riding in the Romanicacs - a huge international event that he got third in.
This was the first time it was done and was a great event. I have never been to a bike event only ever been to cars and always been involved in it. Was right next to the main transport centre called Britomart - normally a car park I think.
My sister picked me up from work and we headed in. Met up with John who was doing start line/Race control. And had been involved in the set up and after that the pack up. (They finished packing up Monday afternoon) Was a busy thriving time with about 10,000+ people going. The weather held off, which was great, until the prizegiving at the end.
The news coverage was really good - had a great thing of the set up - cant remember what it is called - stop action??
Starting tonight at 9pm, finishing Sat lunch time. I have also dyed my hair Red! (the box said hypnotic red). Should be fun - starting to appreciate the things I never now see. Like running water - a toilet - medical care - and all the food I want! Arn't I lucky!
EDIT - apologies - didn't mean to have the links on there. They were from an email I copied
Its my few days off and although I should be enjoying it, I have no internet at home. I am suffering withdrawl!
This would be the perfect time to catch up on some posting. Have collected a few photos for a look around my neighbourhood - some other stuff I have been planning on putting together when I have time - now I do and can't do anything about it!
Error is...
There is a IP conflict with another system on your network.
This seems strange as the address is the one that is automatically assigned to me and when I refresh or repair it gives me the same one. I have even changed it manually and the same problem. I'm not techie enough to know how to fix this - its driving me nuts though, it just suddenly happened - no internet since thursday!
I'm goin' racing!!
Apr. 2nd, 2009 09:20 pmJust come back from an officials briefing for the Hamilton 400, Aussie v8 Supercar street race on in two weeks!
Got uniform and passes. It really going to be happening. Very much looking forward to it. Just got to get through this weekends Worship INC (family services) and Easter and it is time.
Horrible start times as expected. 615 sign in. But we had to be at race control at 6.30 last time so that isn't too bad. They are providing breakfast but no lunches (well two bottles of water and a piece of fruit!) but won't be able to have the breakfast because those in race control and other tasks for set up will be already busy.
Funny set up from the organisational side. But will wait and see how it goes. In some ways not sure why they played with a format that basically worked well last year.
Hear the grandstands have been redesigned. Was funny watching the mexican wave every time a car went passed last year. Imagine a grandstand where you couldn't see the track sitting down - funny......, and huge disaster.
Not sure I will get my camera sorted by then. Would be good to have it. Even if we are banned from using them while on duty.
Never prune when in a funny mood - especially frustrated or upset.
There are a few times I should have listened to this little rule. Yesterday was one of them.
I am now the proud owner of a large bush of stalks. Just as well I didn't like it and don't really care if it doesn't regrow. Ugly thing, Worth killing in my books. More light to the things under it. Could plant some more stuff. Yay! Should do this more often!
